Viktor Gyokeres has been left ‘frustrated’ with the delay over his potential transfer to Arsenal this summer, according to the latest reports.

The Gunners have been on the search for an out and out striker this transfer window as they look to close the gap to the top of the Premier League. Gyokeres has been a long-term target for the club, after catching the eye with his goalscoring exploits in Portugal last season.

In 52 appearances in all competitions, the striker scored 54 times. He also provided 13 assists.

There has been somewhat of a saga over his future this summer, but Arsenal and sporting director Andrea Berta are now be closing in on a deal. As reported by football.london last week, a broad agreement has been reached with Sporting over an initial €63.5 million (£55m) fee and €10 million (£8.7m) in add-ons.

Talks continue over the final details and structure of the deal. How the add-ons are achieved is one of the current sticking points of the move.

All parties, including Gyokeres himself, will have probably hoped that a deal would be done by now and that he would be on his way with his new Arsenal teammates to the pre-season camp in Asia.

TBR Football ’s Graham Bailey reports that Gyokeres’ feelings at the delay. Bailey also set out a timeline of when the deal could be completed by.

“Arsenal are staying calm, I need to emphasise that – they admit some deals are just easier than others,” he said.

“In terms of the player, I am told Gyokeres himself is frustrated – but his people point out that is just from a professional standpoint – he wants to be with Arsenal now, he just wants to be with his new teammates.

“Arsenal are so far down the line with this, it really is just the finer details – this time last week they thought it was done and could not imagine it running to this weekend.”

If that is the case and a deal is done by the weekend, then Gyokeres could fly out to Asia to meet his new teammates. If a deal is done in time he could even feature in the pre-season friendly against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, with the game being played at the Singapore National Stadium.
