The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is going to make the process of biometric update easier for children above 5 years of age. According to UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar, about 7 crore children have not yet updated their biometrics, which is mandatory after the age of 5. Let us also tell you in the news below what kind of master plan has been prepared by UIDAI.
Aadhaar card will be updated in schools.
Kumar said that UIDAI is working on a project to update the biometrics of children through schools with the consent of parents. This technology is currently being tested, and it will be ready in about 45-60 days. To ensure the accuracy and reliability of children's biometric data, it is important to complete the mandatory biometric update (MBU) on time.
If MBU is not completed even after the age of 7, then as per the existing rules, the Aadhaar number can be deactivated. If MBU is done between the ages of five and seven, it is free, but there is a fixed fee of Rs 100 for updates after the age of seven.
Benefits of many schemes-
Aadhaar with biometric update makes life simpler. It ensures seamless use of services like school admission, registration for competitive exams, scholarships, and direct benefit transfer (DBT). Kumar said that the process of getting a second biometric update done in schools and colleges for children who have completed 15 years of age will continue.
Why is Aadhaar update necessary?
Currently, Aadhaar of children below 5 years of age is made without their biometrics. Kumar said that Aadhaar is necessary for the benefits of many government schemes, and our goal is that children can get all these benefits at the right time. Through schools, we are trying to reach as many children as possible conveniently. Under this project, UIDAI will send biometric machines to each district, which will be rotated from one school to another.
