Amazon India to Hire 1.5 Lakh Employees Ahead of Festive Season, Expands Fulfillment and Delivery Network
Amazon India has announced a massive hiring drive ahead of the upcoming festive season, creating more than 1,50,000 job opportunities across its fulfillment centers (FCs), sortation centers, and last-mile delivery stations in India. The company revealed this development on Monday, August 18, 2025, highlighting its preparations to handle the surge in online shopping during the Diwali and year-end festive sales.
Festive Season Brings a Hiring BoomEvery year, e-commerce giants ramp up hiring during the festive season to meet the huge spike in customer demand. Amazon India has been a major contributor to seasonal employment, offering both direct and indirect jobs for thousands of workers. This year, the company has further strengthened its operations to ensure faster deliveries and a seamless shopping experience for customers across the country.
Focus on Faster Deliveries Across IndiaAbhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations for Amazon India and Australia, said,
“This festive season, our focus is on providing customers across every serviceable pin code in India with quick and reliable deliveries. To achieve this, we have expanded our fulfillment and logistics network by onboarding over 1,50,000 additional people. Many of them continue working with us even after the festive rush, while others return year after year to join us during the peak season.”
Singh also emphasized that Amazon prioritizes the safety and well-being of its associates, whether they are working inside fulfillment centers or delivering packages on the road.
Opportunities Across 400+ CitiesAccording to the company, the hiring drive will create employment opportunities in more than 400 cities, including Raipur, Jalandhar, Jodhpur, Ranchi, and Jalgaon. This expansion will help Amazon ensure that customers in both urban and semi-urban regions receive timely deliveries.
One of the associates working at Amazon’s Bengaluru fulfillment center, Manisha Singh, shared her experience, saying that the company’s strong focus on workplace safety has given her confidence while working in the operations network.
Inclusive Employment DriveAmazon India also highlighted its commitment to inclusivity in the workplace. The company stated that it has already onboarded thousands of women associates and created opportunities for over 2,000 persons with disabilities across its network. By promoting diversity, Amazon aims to make its workforce more inclusive and representative of society.
Health Initiatives for Delivery PartnersIn addition to jobs, Amazon India is extending health benefits for its delivery partners. The company’s healthcare initiative has provided free health checkups to more than 80,000 delivery associates in major cities. This program ensures that essential medical services are made accessible directly at last-mile delivery stations, helping workers stay healthy while managing the demanding festive workload.
A Boost to India’s Job MarketAmazon’s hiring announcement comes at a crucial time when job opportunities are highly sought after.
