MP Engineering Admissions 2025: Shocking news has come out from MP. Where once it was very difficult to get admission in engineering colleges, now thousands of seats are vacant here.
How the picture changes with time, this thing is fully applicable to the engineering colleges of MP today. Till a few years ago, there used to be long queues for admission in colleges; now there is silence in those colleges. Where there used to be a competition among students and parents to get a seat, now thousands of seats are lying vacant there. The situation is so bad that many private colleges are in danger of closing down.
Once the dream of becoming an engineer was the first choice of the youth's career. Students were ready to spend lakhs of rupees just to get admission in a good engineering college. But today the scenario has completely changed. Now the youth are neither showing much interest in this field nor are they running around for admission.
40 thousand seats still vacant
The latest figures make this situation more clear. There are a total of 73,412 seats in 124 engineering colleges of the state. Even after the completion of the first and second phase of counseling, about 40 thousand seats are vacant. So far, admission has been done on only 32,743 seats. These figures clearly show that the enthusiasm of the youth towards engineering has decreased rapidly.
Trying to save through CLC
Colleges are now doing College Level Counseling (CLC) to fill the vacant seats. In this process, which started from Tuesday, admissions will be completed by August 14. This is the third phase, in which the colleges themselves will contact the students and offer them to take admission.
Why is the trust of the youth broken?
Experts believe that there are many reasons behind this. First of all, employment opportunities after engineering are not as strong as before. Many passout students do not get jobs for years, due to which the enthusiasm of new students is broken. Also, more career opportunities are being seen in other fields like IT and management.
Many colleges are facing crisis
The lack of students is directly affecting the existence of colleges. Especially private engineering colleges are facing problems in operating. If this situation continues, many colleges may close down in the coming years.
Strategy of the government and colleges
The government and college management are now working on new courses, skill development programs and industry partnerships to attract students back. Along with online and hybrid classes, emphasis is also being laid on placement drives.
