New Delhi: Heavy rainfall lashed Delhi and surrounding areas on Friday night and early Saturday morning. Waterlogging was reported in several areas of Delhi-NCR. The city was brought to a standstill as long traffic jams were reported in areas, including Moti Bagh, Ranjeet Nagar, ITO and Panchkuian Marg.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted "thunderstorm with rain" in Delhi on Saturday. The maximum temperature is expected to be 36 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is expected to be 27 degrees Celsius.
Visuals of waterlogged roads also surfaced online.

Waterlogging was also witnessed in Mathura Road. Bharat Mandapam's Gate no. 7 was waterlogged after precipitation in the early hours of Saturday.

As per IMD, Delhi will experience rain with thunderstorms till August 12.

Delhi Police Traffic Advisory:
The Delhi issued traffic advisory in the wake of Raksha Bandhan festival and incessant rains. As per the Delhi Police, heavy rains caused waterlogging at GTK Depot, Jahangirpuri, and Adarsh Nagar, Meanwhile, traffic on old GT Road is likely to be severely affected.

"To avoid congestion, commuters are advised to avoid taking old GT Road. Delhi Metro services are operational and can help minimize travel disruptions. Please plan your route accordingly," the police said in the advisory.

Flights Delayed:
In the wake of heavy showers, over 100 flights have been delayed. At least 135 flights to and from Delhi's Indira Gandhi Airport were delayed on Saturday morning, reported Hindustan Times, citing the data from the flight tracking website Flightradar
Several airlines, including IndiGo and SpiceJet, issued travel advisories for passengers.
IndiGo issued a travel advisory requesting passengers to plan their journey to the airport in advance and take an alternate route.
"Due to today’s downpour, several roads across Delhi are currently blocked or experiencing slow movement. Please allow extra time, take an alternate route if possible, and check your flight status on our website or app before leaving for the airport. Our teams are working to keep things on track and support your journey. Thank you for continued trust and patience," IndiGo said in its advisory.

SpiceJet also issued a similar advisory. " Due to bad weather (heavy rain) in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status via http://spicejet.com/#status," SpiceJet said.
