The Milli Shoora, a Muslim think tank has condemned the Dawoodi Bohra delegation meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to express their support for the Waqf Amendment Act.
The group called the law a 'draconian act' that was opposed tooth and nail by Muslim Tanzeems, or associations, all over the country including opposition party MPs in parliament and members of the Hindu and other communities.
The organisation said that the bill was contested vehemently both in both houses of parliament and outside. This support of the Bohra community of the law implies their aloofness and revolt from the Muslim collective consensus and Muslim Ijma showing their insensitivity towards the Muslim Ummah, said advocate Zubair Azmi and Professor Mehvash Shaikh, convenors, Milli Shoora, Mumbai.
