In a road mishap, the official vehicle of Mumbai's deputy commissioner crime (Detection) Rajtilak Roushan was hit by a speeding container truck on Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Marg around 11 PM on Saturday. Only Roushan's driver and wireless operator were reportedly in the vehicle at the time of the accident. No one was injured in the accident. The Vikhroli Parksite police have registered a case against the container truck driver Bipin Rambadai Singh (42).
According to the case registered by the police, constable Pawan Kharade, 25-years-old, working at the Motor Transport Department, Nagpada, Mumbai was on duty as a driver in the official Ertiga vehicle (MH.01 EJ. 4665)
At 8.30 pm constable Kharade and operator constable Vikram Jadhav dropped DCP Roushan at his residence in Kole Kalyan, Mumbai Suburban. Then, Roushan ordered the constables to do patrolling duty at Kanjurmarg (West).
At 11 pm, when the car reached Gandhinagar signal on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg. Kharade stopped the vehicle. After the signal was given, a container truck (N.L.01 A.G. 8655) coming from behind hit the police vehicle on the right side.
The police vehicle was extensively damaged. The policemen took the truck driver Bipin Singh to theVikhroli Park Site police station where he was placed under arrest.
The police have registered a case under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act and Sections 125 and 281 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Act on the complaint of constable Kharade.
The accused Singh, is a native of Bisnupur in Bihar’s Siwan district. The container truck he was driving belongs to Niv Kirtiman Road Line Company, the police said.
