Mumbai: The Tilak Nagar Police have arrested two individuals, Dipesh Sandeep Bhosle and Sumit Anil Sonawane, in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Khushal alias Jai Ganesh Shinde.
The victim was allegedly stabbed to death in retaliation for a public beating he received after being caught engaging in lewd acts with a girl in an auto-rickshaw. A third suspect, a minor, has been detained and transferred to the Dongri juvenile detention center.
Khushal Shinde Stabbed Near LTT Station on August 6
According to the FIR, the victim, Khushal, resides in Sai Baba Nagar, Cell Colony, Chembur East. The two main suspects, Bhosale and Sonawane, along with a minor accomplice, brutally stabbed Khushal to death with a knife near the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) at 4 AM on August 6. The Tilak Nagar police cracked the case within hours, detaining the suspects and formally arresting two of them.
On July 30, around 1:30 AM, Dipya and Sumit were allegedly caught engaging in obscene acts with a female friend in a rickshaw in front of the Samaj Mandir Hall in Shell Colony. Some locals pulled them out of the rickshaw and slapped them, while also admonishing the girl.
Victim Had Earlier Slapped Accused for Obscene Acts in Auto-Rickshaw
During the initial confrontation, Khushal also intervened by questioning their behavior and slapping them, which reportedly enraged Dipya. The situation escalated dramatically at 4:00 AM on August 6, when Khushal and his 18-year-old friend, Samadhan Ramesh Sonawane, were looking for a tea stall near the turn toward LTT. They were then confronted by Dipya, Sumit, and their friends.
Accused Allegedly Sought Revenge After Public Embarrassment
Dipesh allegedly confronted Khushal about the earlier incident where he had been slapped in front of others. The group then began assaulting Khushal with kicks and punches. Subsequently, Dipya allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Khushal in the left side of his chest. Samadhan fled the scene in fear. Rickshaw and taxi drivers who were present also ran away after hearing the commotion.
Samadhan went back to his locality and informed his friend Arjun about the incident. When the two returned to LTT, they were told that locals had already taken the injured Khushal to Rajawadi Hospital. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.
