Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has made several serious allegations regarding polling booths during his visit in the city on Sunday. He alleged that in voter lists, names of genuine voters are often removed without any reason.

Speaking to the media, Singh said that Rahul Gandhi is becoming part of a nationwide campaign and is continuously highlighting public concerns. He mentioned that in a recent press conference, Rahul Gandhi directly questioned the Election Commission, demanding that the complete voter list in soft copy be made available to all political parties.

Diggy stated that unless every party has access to this list, questions about transparency will remain. He clarified that, on many occasions, the name of the same individual appears at multiple polling booths or is listed two to three times in the same constituency.

On the other hand, names of genuine voters are deleted without reason. He said these are serious discrepancies that must be corrected. Citing examples, he pointed out that in Bihar and several other states, a large number of names were found missing from voter lists. Such cases, he added, undermine the credibility of democracy.

He further said that Rahul Gandhi has not levelled personal accusations against anyone, but has only asked the Election Commission to make the voter list available to all political parties in a transparent manner. Diggy added that the strange situation is that such discrepancies are discovered only after six months of scrutiny in a constituency.

If the soft copy is provided to parties on time, they can also examine it themselves and expose the mistakes. He further said this issue does not belong to any one political party but is a collective demand to strengthen democracy. The Election Commission must act immediately in this regard while maintaining impartiality.
