The Saiyaara fever has taken the nation by storm, and it seems to be in no mood to slow down. Starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the film has managed to strike a chord with the audience, and has now taken over some big-budget films of the year within just two days, with a box office collection of Rs 45 crore.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Saiyaara minted Rs 24 crore on its second day, aka, Saturday, and it is just the beginning of something big yet to come. The film opened with Rs 21 crore at the box office, beating the likes of Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par, Akshay Kumar's Kesari Chapter 2, and Ajay Devgn's Raid 2, among others.
The film has received positive reviews from critics and the public, and with a strong word of mouth, Saiyaara is expected to shatter several box office records.
Saiyaara Turns Theatres Into Concerts; Audience Goes Crazy When Title Track Starts Playing On Screen, Videos Go Viral (Watch)Amid Bollywood's slow run in theatres, Saiyaara's success came as a welcome surprise, especially when the actors did not go all out with promotional gimmicks and interviews. In fact, the only handful of interviews that have been given were that by director Mohit Suri, while Ahaan and Aneet stayed away from the limelight till the film's release.
The major contributor to the film's success has to be its music, and the fact that people drew comparisons between Saiyaara and Aashiqui 2, which has a cult status among the millennials. It is safe to say that with Saiyaara, the GenZ are having their very own Aashiqui 2 moment. The dearth of heartbreaking, cliched Bollywood romance also seems to be another reason behind people thronging theatres to watch Saiyaara.
