Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has delivered a record-breaking year in rooftop solar. In FY25, Tata Power crossed a major milestone of 1.5 lakh rooftop solar installations, achieving a cumulative capacity of 3 GW across over 700 cities, and maintaining its #1 position.
The company commands a leading 13.1% market share in rooftop EPC, underscoring its deep reach and execution capability across the country.
The rooftop solar segment delivered a remarkable PAT of ₹209 crore, including ₹100 crore in Q4FY25, demonstrating strong profitability and wide-scale adoption.
In FY25, Tata Power executed over 2.5 GW of renewable capacity across verticals. Of this, ~600 MW came from rooftop solar projects, reinforcing the segment’s growing contribution to Tata Power’s clean energy portfolio.
Additionally, the company continues to drive momentum in utility-scale EPC, with a third-party solar EPC order book exceeding ₹4,000 crore under execution.
Aligned with the government’s PM Surya Ghar Yojana, which aims to provide solar-powered electricity to 1 crore households, Tata Power is playing a central role in this movement through scale, service excellence, and accessibility. As part of this effort, Tata Power is partnering with Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA), Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) and the Discoms in Rajasthan - Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL), Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (AVVNL), and Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JDVVNL) to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar systems among residential customers.
Tata Power’s flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Solar, Tata Power ke Sang’ initiative has been launched in cities such as Jodhpur, Varanasi, Kochi, Coimbatore, Raipur and the company has built a strong last-mile delivery network with 600+ channel partners across 400+ districts, and 225+ authorized service partners. Strategic tie-ups with over 20 financial institutions further help make rooftop solar affordable for all. To date, Tata Power has enabled the financing of solar projects worth over ₹ 5,680 crore, empowering people to make the switch to clean energy.
To ensure quality and supply chain self-reliance, solar modules deployed in Tata Power’s rooftop projects are sourced from its advanced TP Solar manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. This fully integrated plant produced 3,291 MW of modules and 846 MW of solar cells in FY25, and operates at over 90% utilisation. It houses TOPCon, Mono PERC, and bifacial technologies, enabling the production of high-efficiency, DCR-compliant modules that maximise energy output and system performance.
With strong market momentum and institutional support, Tata Power aims to scale its rooftop solar reach to 30 lakh households in the next 3 years.
With consistent profitability, operational excellence, and alignment with India’s climate goals, Tata Power’s rooftop solar business continues to be a cornerstone in advancing energy equity and building a greener tomorrow.
