Iced lattes are very popular among coffee lovers. However, there's a common mistake most people don't know about, according to acoffee shop owner.
Posting on TikTok as @joshdrinkscoffee, Josh told his viewers: "I hate to break it to you but you've been making iced lattes wrong this entire time. I own a coffee shop, and I'm gonna show you the most common mistake I see when people are making iced lattes at home, and I'll show you how we make them at our coffee shop."
He explained: "First, let's start off with an example of what not to do. So everyone knows that iced lattes are the Beyoncé of coffee drinks, and that's not up for debate, but the number one thing when making an iced latte is the order in which you assemble the iced latte.

"What a lot of people do is they'll start with ice and then they'll take hot espresso, and they'll pour the hot espresso directly onto the ice. What happens when you pour hot liquid onto ice? Yeah, you got it right, it melts and that turns into water.
"The number one thing you don't want in your iced latte is water. So that was mistake number one. Mistake number two is waiting until the very end of this process to add sweeteners, like syrup, sauces or honey, into a cold beverage.
"The problem there is the sweeteners will just be suspended in the cold liquid and won't actually dissolve into the drink, so when you take a sip of this iced latte, you're either gonna get a mouthful of caramel or a mouthful of watery coffee milk."
Josh said he wouldn't sell this drink to a customer before he demonstrated his recommended method. "So you've got your cup of ice, next thing you're gonna grab is a separate container. Now grab your hot espresso, and are you gonna pour it over ice? No.
"You're gonna get your sweetener, you're gonna put that in a separate container, you're gonna pour that hot espresso into the container with the sweetener, and you're gonna let the flavours combine, but most importantly, you're gonna dissolve the sweetener so it mixes evenly with milk."

He added: "This step is optional, you can stir the espresso and the sweetener together, but you don't have to. Next, are you gonna pour this semi-hot mixture over the ice? No. You're gonna take your milk and you're gonna pour that into the container with the espresso and the sweetener because it's not as cold as the ice and it's not gonna melt the ice.
"Then and only then, you'll pour that mixture into the ice, and are you gonna stop there? No, you're gonna take what's in your cup and pour it back into the container, then you're gonna pour it back in your cup, and what you're left with is a perfectly balanced iced latte that's gonna taste the same with every single sip."
