Emmerdale star Isabel Hodgins' dad completed major mission before approving future husband

is currently the longest-serving character on , and has had plenty of ups and downs since her first appearance in 1994. While Victoria has been married on the soap in the past, the actress behind the character, , has only played the part of bride - until recently, when she tied the knot in real life.

Isabel, 31, in a gorgeous ceremony in covered exclusively by the . The actress exchanged her vows with teacher Adam Whitehead, and was surrounded by loved ones and co-stars for the blissful day.

The duo after years together, and Isabel shared the happy news on at the time. She wrote: “The most incredible night of my life. I said yes to marrying my best friend. My kind, sweet, patient and generous, perfect person. I can’t wait to spend forever with you.”

Isabel and Adam even not long before their wedding, and looked incredibly loved-up on the big day. During the nuptials Isabel also revealed how her relationship with the teacher started, and shared how her dad had a huge - and hilarious - part to play in getting things off the ground.

The actress shared the tale as part of her wedding speech, and explained that she wanted to flout tradition by speaking up. “It bothers me that it’s just the men, so I was like, ‘I’ll absolutely be speaking,’” she said of her choice to address the guests.

Despite the scary undertaking, Isabel only put pen to paper the night before she walked down the aisle, but the speech came together easily once she decided to focus on how she first met Adam two and a half years ago at the gym and was immediately taken by him.

Although it was love at first sight there was one issue about Adam that left Isabel scared - and her beloved dad was the one to clear things up.

The soap star recalled: “I had a crush on Adam at the gym. I thought he was younger than me, which was an issue. I train with my dad and I said I wanted to know how old he was. My dad went over and asked him!”

Adam then shared: “Her dad was her wingman. I said that in my speech. He came up to me on that Monday morning and said, ‘How old are you?’ And when I answered he said, ‘Thanks,’ and walked off. There was no small talk. The day after, Isabel requested to follow me on Instagram and it started to make sense.”

Thankfully, age turned out to be just a number for the pair after meeting when Adam was 25 and Isabel was 28. Speaking after the wedding, Isabel admitted: “At the start I made such a fuss about it. He thought I was going to break up with him over it! Now we’re married and it’s a non issue.”
