Tragically, there have been instances of fans losing their lives due to severe falls at baseball stadiums.
In 2015, Atlanta Braves season ticket holder Gregory K. Murrey toppled over guard rails from the upper deck at Turner Field.
This came four years after Shannon Stone, a firefighter attending a game with his 6 year old son, fell roughly 20 feet while trying to catch a foul ball thrown into the crowd at the Texas Rangers' former stadium.
Both incidents led to a review of the height of guard rails at stadiums. The Rangers decided to raise theirs, while the Braves resolved a lawsuit with Murrey's family.
In a separate incident in 2022, a spectator tragically lost their life after falling on an escalator at Pittsburgh's Acrisure Stadium during an game.
