Murdaugh Death in the Family cast, release date and trailer for 'insane' true crime series

Murdaugh: Death in the Family is streaming globally soon and the series is based on the Murdaugh family from South Carolina.

The family has been the subject of a number of series after a fatal boating accident began the unraveling of their legacy.

Maggie Murdaugh and son Paul were found murdered, which exposed a century of corruption, power and cover-ups.

The synopsis reads: "Maggie and Alex enjoy a lavish life of privilege as members of one of South Carolina's most powerful legal dynasties. But when their son Paul is involved in a deadly boat crash, the family is faced with a test unlike any they've ever encountered.

"As details come to light and new challenges emerge, the family's connections to several mysterious deaths raise questions which threaten everything Maggie and Alex hold dear."

image When is Murdaugh: Death in the Family out?

The series will launch on Hulu in the US and on Disney Plus in the UK, and will feature a triple-bill premiere.

The first three episodes are scheduled to drop on October 15, with the remaining episodes then airing weekly.

The main cast includes Jason Clarke as Alex Murdaugh, Patricia Arquette as Maggie Murdaugh, J. Smith-Cameron as Marian Proctor, Johnny Berchtold as Paul Murdaugh and Brittany Snow as podcast host Mandy Matney.

Jason Clarke, best known for his role in Brotherhood, is also leading AppleTV+'s The Last Frontier.

Patricia Arquette is known for her role in Boyhood, with J. Smith-Cameron known for playing Gerri Kellman in the HBO series Succession.

Johnny Berchtold is known for his role in the MGM+ film The Passenger, while Brittany Snow is known for Guiding Light and American Dreams.

Yes, Hulu released a trailer in September and it introduces the family as a "legal dynasty" - but they were not as honest as people believed.

The teaser features the immediate aftermath of the infamous boating accident which threatened to expose the family's previous cover-ups.

Fans took to the comments section on YouTube to share their initial thoughts, with @jestersbejestin saying: "The real life story is just insane. So glad this has been turned into a series!"

@alexsch509 added: "Jason Clarke is literally channeling Alex this is wild — he better get an Emmy too."

@ddcrowley commented: "You can just tell when something is going to be great. This series is going to be great."
