Rod Stewart's one reason to keep touring after completing bucket list

Sir Rod Stewart says he has ticked everything off of his bucket list after playing Glastonbury Festival in the Summer.

The 80-year-old singer insisted he has nothing left to achieve but still loves playing live and has several albums in the works.

Ahead of starting a new South American and European tour this week, Rod said: “I still enjoy what I'm doing. I love it. You can tell it's written all over my face. Absolutely love it, but all things have to come to an end. I'm very happy with my achievements thus far."

Asked if he'd like to headline the Super Bowl half time show, Rod replied: “I've done Glastonbury, so I'm happy."

He insisted: "There's no bucket list. I've done it all."

Rod is hitting the road again and will spend his downtime watching his beloved Celtic football team and tinkering with projects on his model railway.

But he is also working on new music when he has time to get into the studio.

He told People magazine: “I'm supposed to be doing a country album, and I'm halfway through doing an original album."

The founder of Wolfie's Whiskey also said cutting back on booze in general in recent years has improved his singing voice.

He said: "I find it easier to keep my voice in good shape, and it was excellent tonight. It's been excellent for the last year or so, since I've cut back on the drinking."

Rod is set to be joined on the tour by wife Penny Lancaster who he wed in 2007.

In her new autobiography released last month she told how Rod wooed her during a tour of his Victorian Pre-Raphaelite art collection at his home in Essex in 1999.

Penny momentarily reclined on his four-poster bed, and the rock icon leant down for a lingering ‘upside-down kiss’, which, she recalls in her new memoir, turned her “whole body” to jelly.

More recently the pair joined his family on a holiday in the Caribbean to celebrate Rod’s 80th birthday, two decades on from their first trip there.

Rod told her: “I promise I’ll try and be around for another twenty.”

And Penny wrote: “I have a funny feeling that he’ll make sure of it, to. His enthusiasm and drive leave me breathless at times.”
