Have you had your eye on the latest iPhone 16? Now could be a very good time to take the plunge. Sky Mobile has just announced a surprisingly good deal that offers Apple's flagship smartphone at its lowest ever price. This tempting cost cut means you can currently pop the new 16 in your pocket and pay just £22 per month. You don't even need to pay anything upfront with Sky scrapping its one-off fees.
It's very enticing, but there are some things to note before tapping the 'buy' button. Firstly, that £22 price doesn't include any calls, texts or data, so this needs to be added onto the plan. Right now, Sky has bundles that include 3GB of data for an extra £6 or 50GB for £12.
That means you'll probably end up paying at least £28 per month to buy and use this device.
There's also the length of contract to remember when buying from Sky. The UK network ties you in for at least 36 months although you can switch phones after 24 months.
This means the total price for the iPhone 16 - over 3 years with £0 upfront and 3GB of data is £1,008.
How does that compare to going SIM-only?
If you buy this latest smartphone directly from Apple you'll pay £799 without a SIM.
Online has been bargain hunting and found cheaper deals from Argos and Currys that are offering this device for just £699.
Add the cost of the phone to a SIM from providers such as SMARTY and you could pay as little as £987 over three years.
That is cheaper than Sky but you will need to stump up the £699 price to buy the iPhone rather than spreading the cost.
Should you upgrade to the iPhone 16?
This is a top-rated smartphone that gets plenty of upgrades. Those switching to Apple's flagship get a Super Retina XDR display, an impressive A18 processor, decent dual-lens camera and long battery life.
It's also made of tough stuff and comes in a number of fruity colours, including Ultramarine, Teal and Pink.
On the side of the case is also the addition of the Camera Control button, which lets you snap images without touching the screen.
The iPhone 16 is also one of the only devices that is compatible with Apple Intelligence. This means it can write emails, sort inboxes and retouch photos automatically.
