Woman Doctor Threatens to Seek Mercy Killing Over Unsolved ₹80 Lakh Robbery Case
A shocking case has emerged from Bharatpur, where a woman doctor has warned that she will write to the President of India seeking permission for euthanasia if justice is not delivered soon. The incident stems from a robbery case worth ₹80 lakh that occurred nearly a year and a half ago but still remains unsolved. Frustrated with the lack of police action, the doctor has accused the authorities of negligence and claimed that the accused are being shielded under political protection.
The Unsolved Case That Changed Her LifeDr. Anamika Bhardwaj, a well-known gynaecologist who runs her own sonography centre in the Deeg district of Rajasthan, said the robbery took place on June 4, 2024. According to her statement, she left for her clinic around 10 a.m. that day, but when she returned home at 6 p.m., she was shocked to find the main gate unlocked and the house ransacked. The cupboards were broken open, and valuables including gold ornaments and cash worth nearly ₹80 lakh had been stolen.
Despite lodging a complaint immediately after the incident, Dr. Bhardwaj claims that no significant progress has been made in the investigation. Over 16 months later, the culprits remain unidentified, leaving her disheartened and frustrated.
Allegations Against Her Own StaffIn a surprising twist, Dr. Bhardwaj has accused two of her clinic’s employees — Ashish Patwa and Jitendra Patwa — of orchestrating the theft. She alleges that on the day of the robbery, both employees persuaded her to visit a temple far from home, giving them a clear opportunity to execute the plan.
According to her, the duo’s lifestyle changed dramatically soon after the incident. “Ashish built a new house, started living lavishly, and began visiting discos. Their sudden wealth raises serious suspicion,” Dr. Bhardwaj said, demanding that the police thoroughly investigate their financial activities since the robbery.
Police Inaction and Growing AngerThe gynaecologist stated that she has been running from one government office to another in pursuit of justice but to no avail. Despite her repeated appeals to senior officials, no arrests have been made. She further alleged that the accused are enjoying political patronage, which is preventing the police from taking any meaningful action.
Dr. Bhardwaj expressed her deep disappointment, saying, “I am tired of begging for justice. I have approached every official possible, but no one is listening. The accused are free, and the police seem unwilling to act.”
“I Will Stop Taking Medicines If Justice Is Denied”Dr. Bhardwaj, who also suffers from a heart condition, made an emotional statement warning that if the police fail to crack the case soon, she will stop taking her medication. “If my case is not resolved, I will leave everything to fate. The administration will be responsible for whatever happens next,” she said tearfully.
She added that if the situation remains unchanged, she will write to the President of India seeking permission for mercy killing (euthanasia) as a mark of protest against the injustice she has endured.
Police Respond to the AllegationsResponding to the controversy, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shankar Lal Meena confirmed that the investigation into the case is ongoing. He stated, “We have received the report, and the case is being investigated thoroughly. The complainant has named two individuals, but allegations alone are not proof. Once the investigation concludes, appropriate action will be taken based on evidence.”
However, Dr. Bhardwaj remains unconvinced. She insists that the police have failed to act decisively despite having sufficient leads. “If the police had taken the matter seriously from the beginning, the accused would not still be roaming free,” she said.
A Cry for JusticeThe case highlights not only the emotional trauma of the victim but also raises questions about police accountability and transparency in investigations. For Dr. Bhardwaj, the fight has turned into a personal battle for justice — one that she refuses to give up on, even at the cost of her own health.
As public pressure mounts, all eyes are now on the Rajasthan Police to see whether they can finally deliver justice to the woman who has waited for over a year and a half for closure.
