Karan Johar: In 2019, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul were heavily trolled on social media after appearing on Karan Johar's chat show. Karan Johar holds himself responsible for this.
Karan Johar: Filmmaker Karan Johar's hit talk show, Koffee with Karan, has featured numerous stars, but there's one big name who's never appeared on the show. That's Indian cricket star Virat Kohli. Anushka Sharma has appeared on the show several times, but Karan has now revealed that the reason Virat wasn't invited to the show was the Hardik Pandya-KL Rahul controversy.
Recently, Karan appeared with Sania Mirza on her podcast, "Serving It Up with Sania," where he revealed why he didn't invite Virat to the show. Karan had a lot of chit-chat with Sania.
During the conversation, Sania asked him about the celebrity he wants to bring on the show, "who keeps saying no." Karan mentioned Ranbir Kapoor. He explained, "He's come before, but he's said no for the last three seasons." Ranbir last appeared in 2016 with Ranveer Singh.
When Sania asked Karan to name someone who had never appeared on "Koffee with Karan," the filmmakers were left wondering. When Sania mentioned Virat, Karan admitted that he had never actually asked the cricketer to appear on the show.
Karan revealed, "I never asked Virat. After what happened with Hardik (Pandya) and (KL) Rahul, I never asked any cricketer to come on the show. There are many who I thought would not come, so I never asked them in the first place.
In 2019, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul faced heavy criticism on social media after appearing on Karan Johar's chat show. Many condemned their sexist comments and called them derogatory towards women.
Amid controversy surrounding cricketers Hardik and KL Rahul's derogatory comments on Koffee with Karan ( KWK) , Disney Plus Hotstar removed their episode. Both were suspended before India's first ODI against Australia, though they apologized. Karan also stated that he was responsible for what the cricketers had to endure.
