Navya Nanda: Navya Naveli Nanda has kept distance from the film world despite belonging to one of the most prestigious families of Indian cinema.
Navya Nanda: Navya Naveli Nanda, granddaughter of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and daughter of Shweta Bachchan Nanda, is often in the limelight for her business and podcast. In a recent candid conversation with the media, Navya explained why she decided to stay away from Bollywood and make her way into the world of business and social work.
During the interview, Barkha asked him, "Did you ever think of getting into films?" Navya replied with complete honesty, "No, never". I'm always asked... And I don't know why. I think I was always brought up in such a way that my parents taught me that if you don't have 100% passion or confidence or you really don't want to do something, don't do it. I never wanted to do this. I have always been very interested in tractors, my dad and his work. When he came back from work, I would talk to him about it. It was much more exciting to me."
Despite belonging to one of Bollywood's most prestigious families, Navya said that her interest has always been in a different direction, Rooted in business and social influence. Nevertheless, she accepts a deep admiration for the creative world. "I love watching movies. I love listening to music, because it's part of my family's work. I keep watching what they are doing and I keep watching what other people are doing.
I love assimilating it... Themes, songs, films. One of my hidden talents is that I remember the hook steps of any song. I like it as it is, for the medium it is through because I think it has a lot of power"
However, praise does not necessarily translate into aspiration. As Navya pointed out, his ambitions lie elsewhere. "I respect it and love it the way it is, but I never wanted to be a part of it. My interests, my enthusiasm and passion lie elsewhere."
Navya has since carved a niche for herself as an entrepreneur and social worker. She runs Project Naveli, a non-profit working for gender equality, and is also involved in her family's business ventures.
Interestingly, while Navya has decided to stay away from acting, her younger brother Agastya Nanda has stepped into cinema. She made her debut in Zoya Akhtar's film The Archies, starring alongside Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Vedang Raina and Mihir Ahuja. He will next be seen in the biographical war film Twenty-One.
