White Lotus, American Gods and Teen Wolf stars are uniting to resurrect an iconic drama that's been labelled "an absolute masterpiece".
The unforgettable Prison Break is making a comeback eight years after it finished on Fox with this upcoming series to be its "own thing" but still expand the same universe.
Brought to life by Mayans MC showrunner Elgin James, Prison Break's return revolves around a soldier-turned-corrections officer who "takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she'll go for someone she loves".
Portraying the correction officer Cassidy is actress Emily Browning who is famed for starring in projects like Legend, The Affair, American Gods and most recently, one more shot.
Browning is far from the only familiar face starring in the Prison Break reboot with a number of other stars also announced.
Browning will be joined by actor Lukas Gage who plays Jackson, "a politician from a well-to-do background in his first congressional campaign".
The White Lotus fans will recognise Gage from the very first series of the award-winning HBO hit where he portrayed hotel employee Dillon.
This isn't the only big show Gage has featured in either as he has also appeared in You on Netflix, the Gossip Girl reboot, American Vandal and Euphoria.
They will be joined by stars like The Winchesters' Drake Rodger as inmate Tommy, Mayans MC star Clayton Cardenas as Michael "Ghost" and Teen Wolf and The 100 actor JR Bourne as Junior.
The spin-off was first revealed to be in development back in late 2023 before being picked up for a pilot episode in December.
The pilot for the new Prison Break series was filmed in June 2025 in West Virginia with the show now being given a pilot to series order by Hulu.
There has been no word yet on when production is going to begin on the full season and no inclination of a start date.
The original Prison Break drama which premiered in 2005, focussed on Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller) who wanted to prove his convicted brother Lincoln Burrows' (Dominic Purcell) innocence and save him from death row by elaborating a plan to escape prison.
The show ran for four seasons and was followed-up with a TV film called The Final Break which aired in 2009, with a sequel series then airing in 2015.
The new Prison Break isn't expected to involve Michael and Lincoln actors Miller and Purcell respectively.
Prison Break will be available to watch on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
