A pregnant woman has died after a medical emergency saw air ambulances and floods of emergency services descend onto a quiet residential street. Merseyside Police have confirmed they were called out to the woman's home in Highsted Road, Kirby, after reports of a medical incident shortly before 11am on Tuesday.
Officers were called to the site after being flagged by paramedics who first arrived on the scene and began tending to the woman in her 30s. The Liverpool Echo reports that despite the best efforts of the emergency responders, the woman sadly passed away at the scene, with her and her relatives then being taken to the hospital.
Two air ambulances were also dispatched to the scene, landing nearby, with one touching down near Headbolt Lane railway station, whilst the other is thought to have gone to Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
After the incident, locals reported that a large police presence remained in the area with uniformed officers setting up outside the semi-detached home while plainclothes investigators could be seen looking around the garden.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson stated: "We can sadly confirm that a woman has passed away following a reported medical emergency in Kirkby earlier today.
"At around 10.55am today (Tuesday, November 11), we received a report from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) that a woman aged in her 40s required urgent medical attention at a home on Highsted Road.
"The woman, who was pregnant, passed away at the scene.
"Officers attended to support NWAS and to assist with the transport of family to hospital.
"At this stage, the woman's death is being treated as non-suspicious and her next of kin has been informed. A report will be sent to the Coroner's Office.
"Whilst we remain at scene to establish the full circumstances, no criminal offences have been identified and no one has been arrested.
"We would discourage anyone from engaging in speculation online about the circumstances of this incident, which is unhelpful and potentially hurtful to those involved."
