I am lucky enough to live within minutes of two major supermarkets: Aldi and Sainsbury's. While most people do a weekly shop, I usually pop in once a day to grab something for dinner or lunch the following day. Aldi is generally my go-to supermarket due to its affordability and delicious bakery items.
I can usually grab everything I need for less than £10 each day, while buying a few essentials from Sainsbury's can quickly add up. Thanks to its Aldi Price Match guarantee, Sainsbury's offers a range of items at the same price as Aldi.

However, many items I buy weekly cost significantly more in Sainsbury's.
Some items I buy weekly that cost more at Sainsbury's include tofu, lactose-free milk, sourdough bread and halloumi.
Despite being an Aldi fan, there is one item that I always avoid buying at the discount supermarket chain: dishwasher tablets.
I tried switching to Aldi dishwasher tablets a few months ago and ran into problems a week into using them.
The tablets in question are the Magnum Premium Triple Chamber All in One dishwasher tablets which looked very similar to the Fairy Platinum All In One dishwasher tablets I usually buy.
Costing just £3.99 for 37, I was excited to give the Aldi tablets a go, hoping that if they performed as well as the Fairy ones, which cost a whopping £9 for 32, I could save a fortune.
However, within a week, I noticed some items coming out of my dishwasher gritty and cloudy, with food residue on them.
Keen to persevere, I added more salt and rinse aid, cleaned the filter and pressed on. Unfortunately, the same problem occurred repeatedly and led to us having to re-wash several items in the sink.
Since then, I've vowed never to repurchase those particular Aldi dishwasher tablets.
Obviously, I can't be sure my dishwasher isn't the issue, but I haven't had the same problem since going back to the Fairy ones.
The Fairy Platinum All In One dishwasher tablets and the Fairy Platinum Plus All In One dishwasher tablets are always available to purchase from my local Sainsbury's, but when they do appear in Aldi's Specialbuys section, usually for significantly less, I always buy a few bags.
I know cheaper dishwasher tablets are available; in fact, I'm yet to put Sainsbury's Advanced Dishwasher Ultimate dishwasher tablets to the test, but I can't deny the sheer cleaning power of Fairy's Platinum dishwasher tablets.
