Keira Knightley spills on 'ban' while filming Netflix thriller The Woman in Cabin 10

Keira Knightley has admitted making her latest film on a superyacht was far less glamorous than it appeared, as she was barred from even sitting on the furniture.

The psychological thriller, The Woman in Cabin 10, features the screen star as a journalist aboard a plush yacht who risks her life to uncover the truth after witnessing a passenger fall overboard. Despite spending weeks on the opulent yacht for the Netflix production, the 40-year-old actress confessed that she didn't really get to savour the luxury because of how expensive everything was.

During an interview on ITV's This Morning on Wednesday (October 22), host Cat Deeley suggested that it must have been "so glamorous", reports the Manchester Evening News.

"I'm on a superyacht," Keira concurred. "We filmed for three and a half weeks on the super duper yacht."

However, she went on: "You know, I was thinking, this is going to be amazing and we are going to get champagne all the time and I'm going to be treated. And instead, the superyacht is so expensive and everything on it was so expensive.

"We weren't allowed to sit on the furniture. We weren't allowed to go on the carpet."

Imitating someone standing cautiously and trying not to occupy much space, she chuckled: "We were all like this! There were so many of us packed into it."

The actress went on: "We weren't allowed to... So we didn't get the superyacht experience of the superyacht and actually, when we got back to the studio, it felt like luxury. We were allowed to sit down, 'This is incredible'."

"They worked it brilliantly," joked Cat's co-host Ben Shephard, as the pair burst into laughter. "We'll make them really grateful to be filming in a hot studio."

"Yeah, to be filming in a hot studio, exactly!" Keira chuckled.

The Woman in Cabin 10, which premiered on the platform this month, is an adaptation of the 2016 novel by the British author Ruth Ware.

The star-studded cast includes not only Keira, but also Hannah Waddingham, Guy Pearce, Art Malik and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

This Morning airs on ITV from 10am on weekdays and The Woman in Cabin 10 is streaming on Netflix now
