Rasmus Hojlund sweating over Europa League final as Man Utd face tough decision

centre-forward is facing a nervous wait to discover if he will be in the starting line-up for Wednesday's Europa League final against Tottenham. Hojlund has had a challenging season leading the Red Devils' attack, netting a mere 10 goals, and his struggles continued in Friday's disappointing 1-0 loss at Chelsea.

United manager Ruben Amorim is pondering his best team to take on Spurs in Bilbao, with the demoting of relegating Hojlund to the bench. The return of Amad Diallo from injury has provided Amorim with more attacking options and the United boss may opt to start him against Spurs.

This could result in Hojlund being dropped from the starting eleven, with skipper Bruno Fernandes potentially taking up the role of a false nine, supported by Amad and Alejandro Garnacho on the flanks.

Another alternative, which Amorim has experimented with this season, would see Kobbie Mainoo playing as a false nine, with Fernandes operating in a deeper position.

With three training sessions remaining before the £100million all-or-nothing clash in Spain, which guarantees the victors a spot in next season's Champions League, Amorim is yet to finalise his starting line-up.

However, Amorim is eager to keep the central midfield duo of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte, which proved successful in the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Europa League.

Former United manager Roy Keane didn't mince his words when assessing Hojlund's performance following the Chelsea defeat, United's 18th league loss this season.

He said: "They've got no striker. Hojlund looked like he'd just come out of the academy. His runs weren't right, his timing, his hold-up play. Again, if you're a striker playing for United - even for the whole team - one shot on target?'

"We keep making excuses for him. We talk about confidence, but you still think, when you're a striker, you have to make something happen sometimes.

"What the big clubs have - and what United have always had - is strikers who can produce something for themselves, even if they're not getting great service.

"They produce something because they have quality, a bit of determination, a bit of experience, football intelligence. We don't see that with Hojlund."
