Here's your essential guide to the Spanish Grand Prix, the ninth round of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
- Friday: First (12.30pm) and second (4pm) practice sessions are scheduled.
- Saturday: Third practice (11.30am) and qualifying (3pm) take place.
- Sunday: The Spanish Grand Prix kicks off, featuring 66 laps around the 4.66-kilometre (2.89-mile) Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The race starts at 3pm local time (2pm UK time)
Fans based in the UK can watch live on Sky Sports F1.
After the slow-paced Monaco circuit, F1 returns to full throttle at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The first corner at the end of the long start-finish straight offers one of the few overtaking opportunities.
The circuit's contract with F1 extends for another year, but its long-term future is uncertain as a new track in Madrid joins the calendar next year. Max Verstappen has dominated the Spanish Grand Prix, winning for Red Bull in the last three seasons.
Lando Norris clinched victory at the Monaco Grand Prix, his first win since the season opener in Australia in March, closing the gap on teammate and standings leader Oscar Piastri. Norris triumphed over Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, with Piastri finishing third and defending champion Max Verstappen in fourth.
Piastri leads the standings by three points over Norris and 25 over Verstappen.
170 - Should Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri seize pole position on Friday, it would mark McLaren's 170th, trailing only behind Ferrari's staggering 253 poles.
28 - Mercedes' impressive 28-race scoring streak grinds to a halt as George Russell finishes 11th and Kimi Antonelli 18th at the Monaco GP.
9 - In a rare dip, two-time champ Fernando Alonso finds himself without a single point heading into the ninth race of the season, a predicament faced only twice before in his career, in 2015 and his inaugural 2001 campaign.
Lando Norris last week: "A good weekend for me (in Monaco), not just in terms of results but personally, to kind of give myself that momentum, that boost. (It) definitely makes me feel better going into Barcelona next week."
