In a major boost to India’s infrastructure, energy, transport, and development sectors, Prime Minister will undertake a two-day visit to four states—Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh—on 29th and 30th May 2025. The visit will feature a series of inaugurations and foundation stone-laying ceremonies for key development projects across eastern and northern India.
Day 1: 29th May – Celebrating Progress and Development Across Three States PM in Sikkim: Celebrating 50 Glorious Years of StatehoodThe Prime Minister will commence his visit on 29th May in Sikkim by participating in the grand celebration titled “Sikkim@50: Where Progress Meets Purpose and Nature Nurtures Growth” at around 11 AM. This milestone event marks 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood. To commemorate this, the government has launched a year-long celebration under the theme “Sunaulo, Samriddha and Samarth Sikkim,” symbolizing a golden, prosperous, and capable Sikkim.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several developmental projects including:
- A 500-bed District Hospital in Namchi, valued at over ₹750 crore
- A passenger cable car system at Sangachoeling, Pelling in Gyalshing District
- A Statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok District
Additionally, he will release a Commemorative Coin, Souvenir Coin, and a Postage Stamp to honor 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood. The projects reflect a balanced focus on healthcare, tourism, and heritage preservation.
PM in West Bengal: Expanding the Gas InfrastructureAfter his visit to Sikkim, the Prime Minister will reach Alipurduar, West Bengal, at around 2:15 PM to lay the foundation stone for a City Gas Distribution (CGD) project covering Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts. The project, valued at over ₹1010 crore, aims to:
- Provide Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to over 2.5 lakh households
- Supply CNG to vehicular traffic through 19 new CNG stations
- Support over 100 commercial establishments and industries
The CGD project aligns with India’s vision for cleaner energy and aims to generate employment and offer cost-effective, environment-friendly fuel options for the region.
PM in Bihar: Aviation Boost for PatnaLater in the evening, at around 5:45 PM, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed passenger terminal at Patna Airport, developed at a cost of around ₹1200 crore. The modern terminal has been designed to handle up to 1 crore passengers annually, significantly boosting air connectivity and passenger comfort in the state.
He will also lay the foundation stone for a new civil enclave at , worth over ₹1410 crore. The Bihta project is crucial for easing air traffic in Patna and serves as a hub for educational and institutional development in the region, given its proximity to IIT Patna and the proposed NIT Patna campus.
Day 2: 30th May – Powering Bihar and Uttar Pradesh with Massive Investments PM in Karakat, Bihar: Unveiling Projects Worth ₹48,520 CroreThe Prime Minister’s schedule on 30th May begins in Karakat, Bihar at around 11 AM, where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple projects worth over ₹48,520 crore. Key highlights include:
- Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II) in Aurangabad district: A 3×800 MW project worth ₹29,930 crore
- Inauguration and laying of foundation for major road infrastructure:
- Patna–Arrah–Sasaram section (NH-119A)
- Six-laning of Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata highway (NH-319B)
- New Ganga Bridge between Buxar and Bharauli
- Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section of NH-22 (₹5,520 crore)
- Elevated road at Gopalganj Town on NH-27
- Dedication of third rail line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj (₹1330 crore)
These mega infrastructure and energy projects aim to propel Bihar into a new era of connectivity, energy sufficiency, and economic growth, reinforcing its position as a key player in India’s development narrative.
PM in Uttar Pradesh: Energy, Metro, and Industrial Growth in KanpurAt around 2:45 PM on 30th May, Prime Minister Modi will reach Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth ₹20,900 crore. Major announcements include:
- Inauguration of Chunniganj to Kanpur Central Metro Section under the Kanpur Metro Project (₹2,120 crore)
- Inauguration of the 660 MW Panki Thermal Power Extension Project worth ₹8,300 crore
- Inauguration of three 660 MW units at Ghatampur Thermal Power Project (₹9,330 crore)
- Launch of 132 kV substations in Ecotech-8 and Ecotech-10 in Greater Noida (₹320 crore)
- Laying the foundation stone for a 220 kV substation in YEIDA, Gautam Buddh Nagar
- Inauguration of Tertiary Treatment Plant (40 MLD) at Bingawan, Kanpur (₹290 crore)
Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate Rail Over Bridges at key locations to decongest traffic and facilitate logistics for the Panki Power Project.
He will also lay foundation stones for key industrial road projects to improve connectivity to the Kanpur Defence Corridor, ensuring smoother movement for defense and manufacturing industries.
To empower citizens at the grassroots level, he will distribute certificates and financial support to beneficiaries under:
- PM Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana
- National Livelihood Mission
- PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
