Panaji: With a rise in conflicts between taxi operators and drivers of aggregator-based taxis, CM Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that govt will bring reforms to resolve the issue, and everyone has to join the aggregating platform.
Sawant held a review meeting on law and order in the state and on the confrontation between tourists and taxi operators.
“We have told police and the transport department that such incidents will not be tolerated in the state, especially when there is a tourist in a vehicle,” Sawant said. “Everyone has to come on aggregation. Taxi operators who are irritated with the renewal of taxi meters should come on the aggregator, and the meter problem will be resolved. They do not have to renew.”
Every week, several videos are being circulated on social media showing how taxi operators stop drivers of aggregator-based taxis and force tourists to cancel the ride. Moreover, videos have been circulated on social media by tourists showing how they were harassed by taxi operators and forced to get out of taxis they had booked on the aggregator. Some tourists have even highlighted how they could have missed their flight because of the confrontation between taxi operators and drivers of aggregator-based taxis.
