Panaji: Following the terror attack at Pahalgam, chief minister Pramod Sawant said that Goa is a tourist state and that security has been tightened.
“Goa is a coastal and tourism state. Goa police are always alert. After the Jammu and Kashmir incident, we have tightened security in Goa,” he said.
The director general of police Alok Kumar said that immediately after the attack, he directed the DIG (range) to deploy additional forces at tourist places and along the coastal belt.
“We put the force on alert and deployed extra forces at high footfall areas. We deployed four Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) platoons—two each in the North and South—to increase vigil and maintain high alert,” Kumar further said.
