Ajmer: Police used water cannon to disperse protesting advocates who tried to enter collectorate after breaking barricades in Ajmer Tuesday. The advocates took out the march from the district and sessions court to collectorate. In response to the march, police barricaded the main road, causing problems for people due to traffic jam. The road from Jaipur to the central bus stand was closed at the RBSE office, and traffic was diverted to police lines, where there was a heavy jam.
Many advocates reached the collectorate, shouting slogans, and tried to break the barricades to enter the premises. There was a heavy police presence to control the situation. However, when the mob went out of control, police used water cannons for the first time in Ajmer in the last 20 years. When advocates saw the fire brigade being used as water cannons, they gathered at the spot. The advocates were protesting over the arrest of an advocate from court premises 14 days ago. They boycotted court work and a general house was called in which advocates demanded the suspension of SHO of Kishangarh who arrested the advocate. TNN
