NEW DELHI: Security forces on Wednesday neutralised two terrorists after an encounter broke out in Jammu and Kashmir 's Poonch

According to Army officials, the forces intercepted a group of terrorists trying to infiltrate into the Indian side from across the border leading to an encounter.

They said two terrorists fell down after being hit during the gunfight.

"In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the Indian Army eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered," Indian Army's white Knight Corps wrote on X.

"Synergistic and synchronised intelligence inputs from own intelligence units and JKP led to a successful operation," it added.

This comes two days after armed forces launched Operation Mahadev and gunned down three terrorists in an encounter on the outskirts of Srinagar.

One of the terrorists is Sulieman alias Asif, who is believed to be the mastermind of the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

The two others were identified as Jibran and Hamza Afghani. Jibran was allegedly involved in the Sonamarg Tunnel attack in October 2024. One M4 carbine rifle, two AK rifles and other munitions were recovered from the site of the encounter.
