Railway Recruitment Boards Announce Rescheduling After Software Error Leads to Question Paper Repetition

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have officially cancelled the RRB JE CBT 2 exam held on April 22, 2025, during the second shift. The decision follows the discovery that certain questions from the first shift were unintentionally repeated in the second shift due to a software-related error.

Candidates who appeared for the affected session can check the detailed official notice on the respective RRB regional websites.

Official Statement and Reason for Cancellation

According to the official RRB statement, the question paper handling and delivery process is software-driven to minimize human interference. However, a system error led to a repetition of questions across shifts, compromising the exam’s fairness.

As a result, the RRBs have cancelled the second shift exam held on April 22 and assured that a rescheduled exam date will be announced shortly for the affected candidates.

Candidates are advised to monitor their respective RRB websites regularly for updates regarding the new exam date and further instructions.

RRB JE CBT 2 Provisional Answer Key: Objection Window Open

Meanwhile, RRBs have released the provisional answer key for the RRB JE CBT 2 exam.

Candidates can challenge any answer by following these steps:

  • Submit objections by April 30, 2025.

  • Pay an objection fee of INR 50 per question plus applicable bank charges.

  • If the objection is accepted, the fee (excluding bank charges) will be refunded to the candidate’s original payment account.

Candidates should ensure they submit valid proof or explanations to support their objections.

Next Stages: Document Verification and Medical Examination

After the CBT 2 results are finalized, candidates who qualify will move on to:

  • Document Verification (DV): Based on normalized scores from CBT 2.

  • Medical Examination: As per RRB standards for the Junior Engineer post.

Only candidates who clear both stages will be considered for final appointment.
