Intense Heat Followed by Thunderstorms and Rain Across India

As temperatures surge from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari, India is witnessing a dramatic shift in weather patterns. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple alerts warning of thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rain across several regions. While extreme heat continues to affect many parts of the country, some areas are now expected to receive much-needed rainfall, offering temporary relief.

Uttar Pradesh: Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm Alerts

Several districts in Uttar Pradesh are on high alert for thunderstorms and heavy rain. According to IMD, districts expected to experience significant rainfall include:

  • Prayagraj, Jaunpur, Pratapgarh, Banda, Kaushambi, and Hamirpur

  • Fatehpur, Raebareli, Amethi, Kanpur Nagar, Azamgarh, and Sultanpur

  • Ambedkar Nagar, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, and Sant Kabir Nagar

  • Basti, Kushinagar, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao, Auraiya, Lucknow, and Barabanki

  • Kannauj, Hardoi, Sitapur, Bahraich, Gonda, and Maharajganj

In these districts, residents can expect thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours and strong winds. Citizens are advised to stay alert and avoid outdoor activities during storm warnings.

Bihar: Rain Forecast from April 27 to April 30

In Bihar, IMD has forecast thunderstorms and rain between April 27 and April 30 across several districts, including:

  • Patna, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, and Darbhanga

  • Vaishali, Sheohar, Samastipur, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj

  • Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnia, and Katihar

  • Gaya, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Begusarai, and Lakhisarai

Residents in these regions should prepare for moderate to heavy rainfall, and temporary disruptions such as waterlogging in low-lying areas are possible.

Other States on Alert

The IMD has also issued rain warnings for several other states:

  • South India: Karnataka, Kerala, and Puducherry are expected to receive showers.

  • Central and Western India: Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Maharashtra could witness rainfall.

  • Northeast India: Rain alerts have been issued for Manipur, Sikkim, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Meghalaya.

Citizens across these regions are advised to monitor local weather updates and take necessary precautions.
